I am in Texas, we have two great kids, Jacob is 13 and happens to have type 1 diabetes, and Sarah just turned 10 today and she happens to have Spastic Diplegia, she also has some learning disabilities. We also homeschool. My husband runs his business out of my living room during the day, and he is working on his Master's in Christian Counseling at night. He also recently went blind. There isn't anything wrong with me, knock on wood (knock knock--is that the door?)--LOL.
My daughter was diagnosed when she was 5, I know that was a little late, but her pediatrician kept insisting that she would eventually walk "right". I kept complaining that she was walking on her toes and I couldn't figure out why. When we finally took her to see my son's doctor (this doctor see's all the kids with special needs in this area), he diagnosed in the office, and then did an MRI to confirm it--which it did.
It was almost too late, because when the doc was checking out her legs she couldn't straighten her left one completely out. He ordered p.t. immediately and then she also wears a brace on that leg. We also found out that her left leg is shorter than the other one. But I guess that is typical?
It is finally nice to be able to plug in with others, and hopefully make friends and hopefully learn about things.
If anyone has any questions about anything just ask.
