LACK OF SLEEP!

Postby Tyler's_mom1992 » Mon Aug 01, 2011 6:29 pm

Hello everyone... I am the mother to Tyler, age 19. I am currently seeking any information or advice about sleep problems that you may have with your child.
Tyler will not sleep without medication, he now takes 400mg of Seroquel and while this does make him sleepy, he is able to fight it. Last night, I was up till 2:20am. He constantly yells for me and refuses to give in to his medication. I'm frustrated, very tired and need any advice any of you may have.
Tyler is an overall healthy young man and loves school. He has significant speech delays, but is doing very well with his mobility. Thank you in advance for any information and/or advice!

It is possible to get sufficient high-quality sleep without the use of medication. Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia (CBT-I) has been recommended as the first line of treatment for chronic insomnia, and I have seen it work in clients from age 15 up to 90+.

Atlanta Insomnia and Behavioral Health Services goes beyond “sleep hygiene” with an empirically-supported treatment that is straightforward and tailored to each individual client. We can also work on any anxiety or depression than can be an underlying cause or lingering effect of insomnia.

Hi, I'm feeling sad for the condition of Tyler. I'm willing to know the condition of him now. As he's a school loving boy he should play a lot. If he doesn't play enough with the friends- I definitely suggest you to make him play games like football, cricket etc. Try not to make him sleep at the day and not to medicine him all the time.

Try to give her a glass of milk before going to bed. This is what I did to my son for him to sleep. Hope it will work unto your child.
