Math problems?

Postby PlainLinda » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:30 am

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I have been working as a carer to a CP teenager for about 2 months now.
She goes to a mainstream high school and while she's good at languages and humanities, she
has severe problems with math, physics and chemistry. The teachers complain her knowledge in these fields is poor,
she claims she can't comprehend the abstract concepts and way of thinking. I try to encourage her to study before the school starts (she arrives 30 minutes earlier), and at home, but she somehow resists revision:( I believe that part of the problem lies in the fact that she hasn't developed the right work ethics yet.

The question is: are math problems really cp connected? If yes, how can I help her to better understand the subject matter that is covered in school?

Many thanks in advance!
PlainLinda
