ataxia

Postby blessedx5 » Thu Jul 23, 2009 4:30 pm

Hi, I'm Alisa, I just posted on the intro thread, but wanted to post here as well. My daughter, Isabella, who has a twin brother, was just recently diagnosed with ataxic and spastic mixed cp. We're still working on a fuller diagnosis, but it affects her entire left side, which is weaker than her right and she has hypotonia and tight muscles.
She can walk, run, jump, and dance, but her gait is very wide and as a doctor told me she walks like a drunken sailor. She does have speech problems and has strabismus in he left eye, but glasses are really helping with that.
Anyways, I have been trying to find out more info. I was wondering if it is true that ataxia is progressive.
Thanks for your time an sorry I'm rambling
