Starting School

Postby bugawan » Sun Aug 23, 2009 8:02 am

My niece will be statring Pre K this year. I feel like a new parent, I am so nervous for her. She just turned 3 a few months ago but is extremely smart for her age. She was going to go to the CP school in the area but the pediatrition didnt send the vacination records over and the school ran out of openings. She is going to a regular schhol. When they tested her they said she can be placed with the 4yr old class. They feel this will be better for her in several ways. being in the older class the other kids arent as demanding and her intellect is at that age group. The school hasnt ever had a child with CP and do not have the equipment. But the told my sister that all the equipment needed would be provided for her. They are making themselves very accomadating. the said they would make sure that Kaitlyn has all the same oppurtunities that the other children have. I'm excited for her :D

Congratz

Hi Bugawan,
Congratz to your niece. Glad to hear they are putting her in regular school. When I was younger, my parents had a hell of a time getting me into regular school and had to fight many battles to get me into regular classes. The admins at the school seemed to think that because I had a physical disability I needed to go to special ed. I owe a lot to my parents for fighting it through as I probably would not be where I am today.
