I was pretty young when I dealt with Shriners and remember very little. My parents told me that the care I received from them was great. They are non-profit and their Dr's seem to know alot about Cerebral Palsy and treatments. Many of the surgries I recevied through Shriners in my younger years went well and enabled me to walk short distances without my crutches. Pretty good considering that the first Dr. my mom saw about my CP told her that I would never walk without assistance. I am interested in others experiences with Shriners...are they still that good? Been quite a few years for me.

My daughter sees them. They are great (we go to the Tampa one). They gave her AFOs and hand splits for free and they evaluate her every few months. They have said that if she needs botox injections for her legs they would do that at no cost.

My daughter started going to Shriners when we moved from California to Montana and the new medical insurance would not cover her pre-existing condition. We have always had great care there. They oversee all of her orthopedic issues. Her doctor is comfortable consulting with other physicians about new therapies and procedures. She tried Botox through a different physician that was recommended by her regular orthopedic doctor at Shriners.
We received news at our last appointment that the Shriners may be closing the Spokane Hospital due to funding problems. I am worried about where we will be able to go for care. We are on a schedule heading into surgery for my daughter later this year and I am hopeful that we will still be receiving our care at the Shriners Hospital in Spokane.

I have very fond memories, and a few scary ones of Shriner's. The doctors were wonderful, but most of all it gave me a good dose of reality. I saw many kids there much worse off than me and, for a while, I would stop feeling sorry for myself. The only thing I regret about Shriner's is that i can't go back. I'm starting to have more problems as I'm reaching thirty and have nowhere to go except a billion different specialist I can't go to because i can't get health insurance. All because of that pesky little thing they like to call 'preexisting condition.' Sigh...

God bless Shriner's. They helped me and my parent's when we need it the most and if I ever win the lottery they're getting a big thank you from this girl!

I have had a surgery there and I loved it because the gave me food from the cafeteria which is so yummy I got to play my nintendo 64 and they had a big screen tv upstairs. I loved the nurses they were very nice. I had the best care. I told the doctor I didn't want to leave.

Shriners is one of the best places i have ever been in my life. One of my friend is in there. And i love to see there hard work for the society. I am very pleased with them. I also suggested one of my relatives to go there for CP. For many years i didn't went there. Thanks for reminding me of this wonderful place. I will definitely visit that place soon.
