salivation

Postby hazel » Fri Dec 12, 2008 1:44 pm

My 10 year old daughter had surgery 6 weeks ago to remove her submandibular salivary glands and to tie off her parotid glands. I have not seen any derease in her salivation. We have tried hyacine patches in the past but they have a bad effect on her already poor vision. Does anybody out there have ant advice or answers? Hazel

I don't have advice or answers - other than to talk to the doctor who did the surgery, but I would like to know more about the surgery you described. Was it supposed to end the salivation? Was that why it was done?

My son drools, sometimes a lot, sometimes not much at all, but the only info I've heard about treatments to stop or decrease it indicated there were side effects and should be used only in severe cases.
